nyc bake sale 2014
When you have an outdoor event—and Mother Nature cooperates, especially this year—you can take it as a good omen. Bringing back the event for the third year, food bloggers gathered for the NYC Bake Sale under blue skies last Saturday, May 3rd, at Brooklyn Flea.
Sales started even as the volunteers/bloggers were just finishing arranging the assortment of baked goods on the display tables. Before the flea market opened to public, vendors cruised our tent scouting for something to go with their coffee. It’s the annual ritual that kicks off the event.
Chocolate was the common theme of this year’s baked goods and plenty of customers didn’t seem to mind at all as they bought brownies, chocolate chip cookies, triple chocolate cookies, sandwich cookies with chocolate ganache, and more.
Fellow bloggers had a great time chatting with each other as well as customers. I recruited kids to tweet and post pictures on Instagram. A few curious dogs were a bit too enthusiastic to sample the goods.
Lillian’s leadership and her generosity drove the day’s success. Much love to all our sponsors who donated fantastic packages for our raffles. You don’t need to wait until next year’s event to be kind and generous. Donate today.
